RA Academy 2022 powered by RefPal

RefPal is proud to have been part of the 4th edition of the Referee Abroad Academy in San Sebastian, Spain, at the Donosti Cup in July 2022. 12 selected referees and 7 coaches from around Europe participated in an intense week of referee coaching and training. The matches were observed by high level observers and also filmed. In the mornings the debriefs were followed by video learning of the match incidents in the seminars. The innovative RefPal seminar tool provided active live participation which was followed by discussions lead by the coaching group. 2 referee teams got the chance to referee a final in the Reale Arena, home to Real Sociedad. The coaches were Manuel Lopez Fernández (ESP), Leif Lindberg (SWE), Istvan Vad (HUN), Jeremy Muller (LUX), Sten Klaasen (EST) and the Academy was led by Niclas Erdmann (GER) and Kristian Bakkelo (NED). The Academy unites the vision of educating and preparing the next generation of international referees to excel in their careers. The focus is on video learning, comparative analysis and self-reflecting. The 12 referees were qualified in the selection process and varied from the level of Top League (3 referees) to the 4th tier in their countries. The process of applying to the 2023 Academy will start in autumn this year.
